CONAMIN 2026 will bring together mining leaders in Trujillo following its presence in Canada and Germany
Trujillo is preparing to become the main meeting point for Peruvian and international mining. From June 15 to 19, the city will host the XVI National Mining Congress (CONAMIN 2026), one of the most important events in the sector, which will bring together businessmen, investors, authorities, specialists, academics, and students to analyze the challenges and opportunities of an industry key to the country's economic development.
The announcement was made during the closing press conference of the “Road to CONAMIN,” an initiative that traveled through various mining regions of Peru and brought the message of responsible, innovative, and sustainable mining to thousands of professionals, entrepreneurs, and citizens.
The presentation included the participation of Roque Benavides Ganoza, president of the Organizing Committee of the XVI CONAMIN; Jorge Soto Yen, president of the Mining Engineering Chapter of CIP Lima; Juan Manuel García, general director of TECSUP; Fernando Guerra Fernández, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of La Libertad; and Jorge Lomparte, superintendent of Risks and Compliance at Compañía Minera Poderosa.
During his speech, Roque Benavides highlighted that the congress arrives at a strategic moment for the country, in which mining continues to be one of the main engines of investment, employment, and economic growth.
“Today we can affirm that the CONAMIN Route fulfilled its mission: to bring the message of responsible, innovative, and sustainable mining throughout the country, capable of generating opportunities, well-being, and progress for all Peruvians,” he/she stated.
Benavides also emphasized that CONAMIN has strengthened its international positioning by participating in the world's leading mining forums.
“Our presence at global events like PDAC in Canada and SOMP in Germany demonstrates that CONAMIN is part of the international conversation about the future of mining, incorporating trends, innovation, and best practices to contribute to Peru's sustainable development,” he stated.
CONAMIN 2026 will feature a top-tier academic and business agenda, including keynote lectures, specialized forums, business matchmaking sessions, corporate meetings, technological exhibitions, and over 150 technical papers related to sustainability, innovation, energy transition, competitiveness, circular economy, and mining investment.
For his part, Jorge Soto Yen, president of the Mining Engineering Chapter of CIP Lima, highlighted that CONAMIN 2026 will contribute to strengthening Peru's position as one of the world's leading mining destinations.
“Our purpose is to promote the country's enormous geological potential, drive new investments, and consolidate Trujillo as the mining capital of northern Peru, making it the main meeting point for increasingly sustainable, responsible, and competitive mining,” he stated.
CONAMIN 2026 is supported by the College of Engineers of Peru – CIP Lima, TECSUP, the Regional Government of La Libertad, the Chamber of Commerce and Production of La Libertad, and various leading companies in the sector.
