ANDESMIN 2026 will bring together authorities and sector leaders to promote Peru's sustainable development
In a context marked by the rise in international mineral prices and interest in extractive investments in Peru, the second edition of ANDESMIN 2026 arrives, one of the main forums for debate and articulation on the future of mining and territorial development in the country.
The so-called II Mining Convention of the Regions of the Andean Regional Commonwealth: ANDESMIN 2026, will take place from October 29 to November 1, 2026, in the city of Ayacucho. It will bring together authorities, businessmen, specialists, and academics linked to the mining, energy, and industrial sectors.
The event, called “Mining and Territorial Development in the Andes with a Global Vision towards 2040,” is organized by the Regional Association of Los Andes, composed of the regions of Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, Ica, and Junín, territories that concentrate important mining projects and enormous geological potential for the country's economic growth.
It should be noted that the regions of Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, Ica, and Junín have become a key hub for the country’s economy. According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), these regions generate more than 86,000 direct mining jobs and contribute S/ 2.578 billion in royalties and fees. In addition, they produce nearly 40% of the nation’s copper and host a portfolio of mining projects totaling over US$15 billion in investments, led by Apurímac with US$10.199 billion, followed by Cusco with US$1.88 billion, Junín with US$1.586 billion, and Ayacucho with US$1.319 billion, while Huancavelica and Ica maintain a presence within a strategic regional portfolio that continues to strengthen Peru’s economic growth, productive decentralization, and mining competitiveness.
The Executive Committee of the Los Andes Regional Commonwealth is composed of Percy Godoy, regional governor of Apurímac and executive president of the institution; Jorge Hurtado, regional governor of Ica; Leoncio Huayllani, regional governor of Huancavelica; Zózimo Cárdenas, regional governor of Junín; and Wilfredo Oscorima, regional governor of Ayacucho.
MINING CALENDAR FROM THE MINE
Jesús Quispe Aronés, president of the organizing committee, reported that the event has been included in the 2026 Mining Calendar of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, a recognition that reinforces its importance within the national strategy to position Peru as a competitive and attractive destination for mining investments.
ANDESMIN 2026 will combine keynote lectures, technical forums, an exhibition of mining companies, innovations, technology and services from national and international suppliers, business roundtables, and various activities to promote networking, with the purpose of fostering innovation, strengthening strategic alliances, and debating the challenges of modern mining under criteria of sustainability and territorial development.
For three days, the plenary hall will become a space for exchanging knowledge, presenting successful experiences, and analyzing opportunities to promote small and medium-sized mining in particular from an inclusive, sustainable, and collaborative perspective.
OBJECTIVES
Among its main objectives are the identification of short- and medium-term actions for the global energy transition process, as well as the generation of consensus aimed at the sustainable development of the Andean regions.
Likewise, the meeting seeks to create spaces to analyze the problems and opportunities facing mining activities in the regions of the commonwealth, while also promoting sustainable coexistence among mining, water, agriculture, and early childhood development.
