CENEPRED and Chinalco Mining sign agreements to strengthen prevention culture

The National Center for Disaster Risk Assessment, Prevention, and Reduction (CENEPRED) and the mining company Chinalco Peru signed 2 agreements, one framework and one specific, with the objective of articulating efforts to strengthen Disaster Risk Management (DRM) in the territorial scope of the areas of influence of the Chinalco mine, located in Morococha, Junín.

The institutional head, Gen. Rolando Gustavo Capucho Cárdenas, and the general manager and CEO of Minera Chinalco Perú, Wang Xing, signed the agreement that reaffirms the commitment to lead and coordinate initiatives contributing to the fulfillment of the National Disaster Risk Management Policy by 2050 and the strengthening of a culture of prevention in the country, joining forces with the private sector for the benefit of sustainable development.

The framework agreement establishes the general guidelines for promoting joint actions, such as strengthening technical capabilities, exchanging information, and implementing measures aimed at the prospective and corrective management of disaster risk, in accordance with current national regulations.

On the other hand, the specific agreement aims to implement concrete actions in the territory, such as risk assessment, the use of technologies for territorial analysis, the dissemination of preventive information, and the promotion of a culture of prevention in local communities.

With these agreements, more efficient and coordinated work is consolidated, involving the private sector, authorities, and communities in order to strengthen Disaster Risk Management.

Furthermore, these types of activities reinforce the country's commitment to disaster risk prevention and reduction, ensuring that future generations live in a protected and safe environment.
