The Executive Branch, through the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), continues to implement the National Rural Electrification Plan, with the goal of expanding access to electricity service in isolated and border populated centers, contributing to closing gaps in the Andean and Amazonian regions of the country.

As of July 2026, MINEM anticipates the completion of 8 rural electrification projects, with a total investment of S/ 232 million, in the regions of Amazonas, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Loreto, Moquegua, and Puno, benefiting approximately 47,000 citizens.

With the implementation of these initiatives, the percentage of rural homes with access to electricity will increase to 90.21%, as part of the sectoral policy aimed at ensuring universal access to energy.

The Executive pointed out that, despite the advances shown, there are still significant challenges in the Peruvian Amazon, particularly in the Loreto region, where various communities located in riverside areas have limited or no access to electricity service, which restricts their social and productive development.

Faced with this situation, the sector promotes innovative solutions through unconventional renewable energies or private local-scale generation initiatives, which will make it possible to sustainably supply electricity to populations settled on riverbanks.

In this regard, the Government emphasized that the implementation of these types of energy solutions will contribute to the effective integration of the deepest parts of Peru, providing dignified conditions for the development of thousands of families who have historically been excluded from access to basic services.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) will continue to promote more electrification projects throughout the country, because energy is inclusion and drives development. Without it, it is not possible to access basic services such as health and education, nor productive development or real opportunities.
