Cajamarquilla and Jicamarca associations participate in environmental monitoring alongside Nexa
As part of the commitments established in the Environmental Management Instruments, the Participatory Environmental Workshop and Monitoring corresponding to the first quarter of 2026 was developed, with the participation of representatives from the 14 associations located in Cajamarquilla (Lurigancho-Chosica) and Jicamarca (Huarochirí).
The activities combined theoretical sessions with practical field exercises, where participants observed the evaluation of air, water, and soil quality at various locations near the operation. During the sessions, attendees directly observed sample collection and participated in a workshop where the evaluated parameters were explained according to current environmental quality standards, and progress on local projects was shared.
“Participatory monitoring allows local leaders to directly validate our fieldwork methodology. By accompanying us in environmental monitoring at various strategic points, we ensure that technical information is accessible and that associations are certain that the refinery's environmental surveillance is carried out under the highest standards of accuracy and reliability.», noted Jason Bonifacio, Environmental Engineer at Nexa Cajamarquilla.
More than 25 leaders participated in this activity, including social leaders, local authorities, and Nexa's Social and Environmental Management teams, who promoted a transparent dialogue space about the results achieved.
Participatory monitoring allows local representatives themselves to become familiar with the technical process and access clear information about environmental care in their territory. By getting directly involved, transparency and collaboration between the company and the community are strengthened.
“These spaces allow us to work jointly with local associations and stakeholders, sharing transparent information and strengthening trust through direct participation in monitoring our environment.”, added Yarineth Chaupis, head of Social Management at Nexa-Cajamarquilla.
Nexa will continue to develop these open and participatory environmental management spaces in accordance with its environmental commitments, reaffirming its goal of building a sustainable environment together.
