MINEM successfully finalizes agreement for S/ 3.6 million for the development of Ccapacmarca in Cusco

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) successfully completed the dialogue process that led to the signing of the inter-institutional cooperation agreement between the District Municipality of Ccapacmarca (Cusco) and Minera Las Bambas, within the framework of the territorial development policy through modern, responsible, and transformative mining.

With the intervention of the General Office of Social Management (OGGS) of MINEM, it was agreed that the district of Ccapacmarca will receive a voluntary social contribution of S/ 1,800,000 annually during the years 2026 and 2027, totaling an investment of S/ 3.6 million, aimed at improving the quality of life of the population and strengthening local capabilities.

During the dialogue sessions, eight communities participated, reaching agreements that will directly contribute to the development of the district, including technical assistance, institutional strengthening, opportunities for young people through pre-professional internships, delivery of medical equipment, and scholarships for students from the jurisdiction.

“This agreement is a great example of the development opportunities that mining brings when there is dialogue, responsibility, and commitment to the communities, and primarily coordination between the State and private enterprise. Our goal is for the wealth generated to be transformed into well-being and development for Peruvian families,” highlighted the Minister of Energy and Mines, Waldir Ayasta.

From the signing of the agreement, MINEM will assume the technical and social accompaniment of the process, supervising compliance with the agreed commitments, promoting coordination spaces between the parties, and ensuring that the benefits reach the population of Ccapacmarca effectively and in a timely manner.

Local authorities, representatives from MINEM, Minera Las Bambas, and social leaders from the district participated in the meeting.

The MINEM reaffirms its willingness to lead and support spaces for dialogue and consensus to promote sustainable mining with a social focus, where investment is reflected in the progress of Chumbivilcas families.
