Nacional de Seguros S.A., a Colombian company specializing in surety bonds, announced the start of its operations in the Peruvian insurance market after obtaining authorization from the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance, and Pension Funds Administrators (SBS) in May 2026. Entry into Peru represents the company's first regional expansion destination and consolidates its growth strategy outside of Colombia.

The Peruvian surety and bond market continues to show strong growth: total premiums reached 615 million soles at the end of 2025, representing a 171% increase compared to the previous year. Local governments put 15,131 projects out to bid between 2023 and 2025, with an average of USD 1.1 million per contract, while projects currently under construction total USD 96.655 billion and projects awaiting commencement represent an additional USD 26.938 billion. In this context, Nacional de Seguros identified a concrete opportunity in Peru for specialized players offering differentiated value.

An international-backed specialization company

Founded in Colombia in 2013, Nacional de Seguros currently holds the third position in market share for surety bonds in its country of origin. The company enters Peru with a solid financial structure and an international reinsurance panel with ratings between A- and AA.
