Mother of God: Armed Forces and National Police strike illegal mining and destroy assets valued at S/ 3 million
Actions against illegal mining do not stop in the Madre de Dios region, where law enforcement carried out a new joint operation in the Tambopata National Reserve, managing to destroy a camp intended for this illicit activity and various assets valued at S/ 3 million.
This joint operation, carried out by elements of the Southern Operational Command and the National Police, made it possible to intercept four heavy machines and various equipment used by criminal organizations to harm the environment.
All seized material was destroyed in strict compliance with the current legal framework and in accordance with the provisions of the Public Ministry – Attorney General's Office.
The actions carried out by the Armed Forces and National Police are sustained in Tambopata. A few days ago, law enforcement forces conducted a joint heli-borne operation against illegal mining, which resulted in the destruction of assets valued at S/ 11,188,724 intended for this illicit activity.
These operations are part of the actions driven by the Defense sector, through the Armed Forces, to combat illegal activities that affect protected natural areas. Furthermore, it reaffirms the State's commitment to the protection of the country's natural resources, biodiversity, and environmental heritage.
