The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), through the Vice Ministry of Mines, held a meeting with the executive director of the Los Andes Regional Commonwealth, Jesús Quispe, where they discussed the scope of ANDESMIN 2026, a key event in the extractive sector focused on promoting the sustainable development of mining in southern Peru.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) confirmed its participation and highlighted the importance of these types of technical spaces that demonstrate how mining can coexist sustainably with activities such as agriculture and responsible water resource management, generating opportunities and well-being for families.

The second mining convention of the Los Andes Regional Commonwealth will bring together authorities, companies, academia, and various stakeholders linked to the sector, and will allow for the analysis and consensus of policies and strategies aimed at strengthening the territorial and sustainable development of extractive activities.

The event will include specialized presentations on territorial and institutional decentralization, metallic and non-metallic mining investment, infrastructure and territorial competitiveness, resource sustainability, energy transition, water management, innovation, human capital, and inclusive social development.

ANDESMIN 2026 is organized by the Regional Commonwealth of the Andes, comprising Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, Ica, and Junín. This year, the forum-expo will be held in Ayacucho from October 29th to November 1st.

For the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), this meeting represents an opportunity to reaffirm Peru's strategic role in the production of critical minerals, in a context of global energy transition and growing demand for clean and sustainable technologies, promoting mining with a focus on territorial and regional development.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) reaffirms its commitment to strengthening confidence in the sector and governance, to foster modern, responsible, and sustainable mining, with respect for communities and the generation of opportunities for regional growth.
