Cusco: Senace approved projects totaling nearly US$1.46 billion in sustainable investment

Senace In Cusco, it approved 182 projects representing more than US$1.4588 billion in sustainable investments that will contribute to infrastructure projects benefiting the population in the mining, hydrocarbons, electricity, transportation, agriculture, and solid waste sectors—all of which are strategic for the region’s economy.

Among the main projects are 3 detailed Environmental Impact Studies (EIA-d) for large projects: Block 58, a transmission line for the connection of the San Gabán III Hydroelectric Power Plant to the SEIN, and the Tintaya Nueva – Pumiri 220 kV transmission line and associated substations.

Likewise, 5 EIA-d modifications (MEIA-d): Gasoducto Sur Peruano – Echarate Station, 220 kV Machupicchu – Tintaya Transmission Line, Cashiriari 1 Gas Pipeline – Malvinas Plant – Lot 88, Antapaccay – Coroccohuayco Integration, and Constancia Mining Unit.

126 Technical Sustaining Reports were granted environmental certification, which are necessary for modifications or expansions in projects that generate insignificant environmental impacts or incorporate technological improvements. Other additional instruments will allow for the construction of rural roads and treatment plants, benefiting the population.

All of this with citizen participation, through 61 participatory workshops and 21 public hearings that involved over 5,200 citizens.

Regional Route

The figures were released at Senace's “Regional Route” which visited Cusco between May 12th and 14th and brought together project holders, environmental consultants, universities, professional associations, and citizens to provide information on environmental certification.

The executive president of Senace, Silvia Cuba Castillo, led the sessions where the entity's digital tools were presented, such as BIANCA's AI Chatbot, the Shared Baseline Use Portal, the Environmental Impact Assessment Technical Criteria Portal, and the renewed National Registry of Environmental Consultants (RNCA).
