Huánuco: Navy Destroys Equipment and Neutralizes Criminal Organizations Promoting Illegal Mining

The Peruvian Navy, through the «Puerto Inca» River Control Unit, seized an excavator and two metal platforms used in illegal mining activities in the vicinity of the native community of Tzamiri, Puerto Inca district, Huánuco region.

The interdiction operation included personnel from the National Police of Peru and representatives from the Second Specialized Corporate Provincial Prosecutor's Office for Environmental Matters (FEMA) of Ucayali.

All material was seized by fiscal disposition, in compliance with Legislative Decree No. 1100, which regulates the interdiction and repression of illegal mining in the country.

Intervention on the Pachitea River

On the other hand, as part of actions to protect natural resources and strengthen the state's presence in the Amazon, personnel from the «Puerto Inca» River Control Unit also seized 14 artisanal river dredges and other equipment used in illegal mining activities on the Pachitea River in Huánuco.

During this operation, carried out with the support of the National Police and under fiscal supervision, the seized material was destroyed in accordance with current legal provisions.

The Ministry of Defense, through the Peruvian Navy, will continue to carry out interdiction operations to combat illicit activities and contribute to the protection of the country's aquatic environment and natural resources.
