The Minister of Energy and Mines, Waldir Ayasta, participated in the inauguration of the natural gas connection at the Lima Este – Vitarte Hospital, a project financed through the Bonogas program. This connection will strengthen essential services such as the kitchen, laundry, sterilization, and hot water production, contributing to improved quality of care for over 300,000 patients annually.

This energy transformation, carried out free of charge through the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), will provide the hospital with a safer, more efficient, and continuous energy source, generating significant savings that can be allocated to modernizing medical equipment, strengthening infrastructure, and improving care capacity.

The head of MINEM toured the facilities enabled with this energy resource, where he was able to speak with hospital staff and confirm the benefits this energy source will bring to the health establishment.

He emphasized that the widespread use of natural gas and electricity allows for direct impacts on the quality of public services received by citizens, especially in priority areas such as health.

The introduction of natural gas at Vitarte Hospital will reduce fuel consumption by up to 50% and maintenance costs by up to 20%. “This significant step forward is part of a firm public policy aimed at expanding access to natural gas and closing energy gaps across the country,” noted the head of MINEM.

To date, with funding from FISE, 11 health institutions in the regions of La Libertad, Áncash, Ica, Tacna, Lima, and Callao have been provided with this economical energy, contributing to the modernization of sanitary facilities and the improvement of services received by thousands of Peruvians.

“Energy is a right for all Peruvians. We continue to move forward firmly, with a decentralized approach, towards a more sustainable, efficient, and humane healthcare system for all of Peru. With determination, will, and energy, everything is possible to help all Peruvians,” emphasized Minister Ayasta.

The ceremony was attended by the General Director of Hospital Lima Este – Vitarte, Hugo William Peña; the General Director of the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (DIRIS) Lima Este, Dr. Norberto Yamunaqué; the General Director of the Directorate General of Health Operations, Bernardo Ostos; the Coordinator of FISE Programs and Projects, Gean Huamán; and the representative of the natural gas installation company EJE Soluciones Energéticas, Yahir Villanueva.
