Silver production rose 4.51% in March, driven by Antamina and Chinalco
National silver production maintained a positive trend during March 2026, driven by the better performance of important mining operations in the country. The result allowed for the consolidation of growth in both the monthly balance and the cumulative for the first quarter of the year.
According to the latest Mining Statistics Bulletin from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), silver production reached 301,672 fine kilograms in March, a volume that represented a 4.51% increase compared to the same month in 2025. Likewise, the figure was 4.11% higher than that recorded in February of this year.
The increase was primarily driven by higher production at Compañía Minera Antamina and Minera Chinalco Perú. Antamina reported production of 55,024 fine kilograms in March, representing a year-over-year increase of 43.01%. For its part, Chinalco reached 14,071 fine kilograms, recording an increase of 18.91% compared to the same period last year.
Thanks to this performance, cumulative silver production between January and March 2026 totaled 879,624 fine kilograms, a figure that exceeded the 859,837 fine kilograms produced during the same period in 2025 by 2.3%.
In the ranking of mining companies, Antamina retained its position as the national leader, accounting for 16.91% of all silver produced in the country. The company remained the leading player in the silver subsector, driven by the increase in its operations during the third month of the year.
Second place went to Compañía de Minas Buenaventura, which accounted for 11.61% of national production. Meanwhile, Minera Chinalco Perú ranked third with a contribution of 5.91%.
Together, these three companies accounted for 34.41% of the country's silver production, establishing themselves as the leading producers of the precious metal in the country.
At the regional level, Áncash remained the leading silver-producing department, accounting for 21.11% of the national total. Lima ranked second with 17.91%, while Junín ranked third, contributing 14.21% of national production.
Together, these three regions accounted for 53.21% of the country's silver production, reflecting the importance of these jurisdictions in the development of silver mining.
The results reported by MINEM show favorable performance for silver production at the beginning of 2026, supported by the recovery of important mining operations and the contribution of the country's main producing regions.
