With the presence of the President of the Republic, José María Balcázar, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Waldir Ayasta Mechán, and other Executive authorities, the installation of primary lines, primary networks, secondary networks, and domestic connections was put into operation, which will provide electrical energy to localities in the district of Olmos (Lambayeque), promoting development and a better quality of life for thousands of citizens.

«We are here to talk about opportunities, dignity, and the future. The arrival of electricity to 25 hamlets in Olmos is the arrival of light to thousands of homes and an improvement in their quality of life,” stated the head of MINEM during his speech at the ceremony held in the town of Insculas, Olmos.

He noted that, “the work was carried out with an investment of 6.8 million soles, so that this infrastructure reaches the population, schools, health centers, and provides opportunities for children to study and play at night, with an optimal lighting system,” emphasized Minister Ayasta.

The project will directly benefit 3,240 citizens, corresponding to 810 households from 25 localities in Olmos. The investment will enable the implementation of an electrical network system, opening up a future with positive prospects for development and progress for students, mothers, and workers in this northern district.

«From the Ministry of Energy and Mines, we work so that more communities have real opportunities: so there is light where there was darkness before, so that our families can get ahead through their own efforts,» Ayasta emphasized, before exchanging an old lamp for a new LED lamp with a student, symbolizing the arrival of electrical energy to this community.

The minister also explained that Lambayeque has great potential to attract investments in electricity generation and transmission, and that initiatives like the Olmos Hydroelectric Plant and Mórrope Wind Farm are currently underway to produce electricity through renewable energies.

Additionally, work is underway on electrical transmission projects, with three projects currently in progress: Reque – Nueva Carhuaquero 220 kV Link; the ITC Lambayeque Norte 220 kV with sectionalizing of the Chiclayo Oeste – La Niña/Felam 220 kV Transmission Line; and the 230 kV Expansion of REP (SE Chiclayo Oeste), a strategic project of national scope.

From MINEM, we are committed to bringing energy where it is still lacking, improving service quality, and creating conditions for more families to progress. “That is the path, to boost investments, unblock projects, and leverage our resources, always thinking about the well-being of the population,» he pointed out.

Finally, President Balcázar, accompanied by Minister Ayasta and heads of other sectors, visited the home of Mrs. María Monja to jointly turn on the lights that now illuminate her home. Also participating in this activity were the President of the Council of Ministers, Luis Arroyo; the Minister of Economy and Finance, Rodolfo Acuña; the Minister of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation, Wilder Sifuentes; as well as congressmen and local authorities.
