Buenaventura will invest US$40 million in the new Llicllao exploration project in Pasco

Compañía de Minas Buenaventura presented the Environmental Impact Declaration (DIA) to the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) for the development of its new mining exploration project Llicllao, located in the Yanahuanca district, Daniel Alcides Carrión province, Pasco region. The company plans to invest US$ 4 million in this program, which will have a total duration of 26 months.

The project area spans approximately 270 hectares, although the direct intervention will not exceed 10 hectares. The activities will be executed within concessions owned by Buenaventura: Acumulación Yumpag, YUM 03, YUM 04, and YUM 05.

The proposal includes the implementation of 26 surface drilling rigs to carry out a total of 44 boreholes, which will add up to more than 14,300 linear meters of drilling. Each rig will have fluid management ponds to ensure environmental control during operations.

Exploration in an area with no prior mining activity

The Llicllao project is located in an area with no history of mining activity, belonging to the Huachus peasant community, and within the XVII metallogenic belt, known for its potential in epithermal gold and silver deposits, as well as polymetallic mineralization (Pb-Zn).

During the upcoming weeks, the company will continue with the management of permits for the use of surface lands and the establishment of access routes and platforms. Subsequently, it will carry out exploration, closure, and post-closure activities, including progressive land rehabilitation.

This new exploratory front is part of Buenaventura's efforts to increase its silver production in the Yumpag area, and reflects its commitment to expanding its presence in areas with untapped geological potential in the central part of the country.
