Lima will be the epicenter of the global mining industry with the hosting of EXPOCOBRE 2026, the III Copper Conference and International Mining Fair, which will take place from April 27th to 29th at the Jockey Exhibition Center. The event will bring together authorities, executives, specialists, and leading companies in a space aimed at promoting sustainable, safe, responsible mining with a strong focus on technological innovation.<\/span><\/p>

Organized by InterMet and Viceversa Consulting, the event will feature a robust program in the Copper Auditorium, with over 15 keynote lectures and more than 10 discussion panels, addressing the main challenges and opportunities in the global copper sector.<\/span><\/p>

First day: projects, innovation, and unlocking copper<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

The official inauguration will bring together representatives from the Advisory Council, government authorities, embassies, and business chambers, kicking off a high-level technical agenda.<\/span><\/p>

Among the keynote speeches, Oscar Rodr\u00edguez, Director of Engineering and New Process Development at Southern Per\u00fa Copper Corporation, will present \u201cThe Immediate Future of the T\u00eda Mar\u00eda Project\u201d; Nelson Trejo, Executive President of Epiroc Americas, with the presentation \u201cRegenerative Mining\u201d; and Osvaldo Bascur, Principal and Consultant Fellow at OSB Digital, who will speak on \u201cThe Rise of AI-Powered Digital Twins for Copper Production Maximization.\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

In the panels, the debate on the \u201cViability of New Copper Projects\u201d will be moderated by Fernando Samanez, representative of Metso, and will feature the participation of Carlos Cotera, from Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera Antamina; Juan Jos\u00e9 Herrera, from Minera Colquisiri; Mario Baeza, from R\u00edo Ind\u00f3mito; and Fernando Valdez, from Minera Crespo.<\/span><\/p>

Likewise, the panel \u201cWorkforce Challenges for the Future of Copper,\u201d moderated by Pamela Antonioli of the Mining Innovation Hub, will bring together Alexander Chac\u00f3n of Chac\u00f3n Partners SAC; Jean Louis Falen of Compa\u00f1\u00eda de Minas Buenaventura; and Macarena Vallejo of Metso \u2013 APRIMIN.<\/span><\/p>

The political block will include the panel \u201cFormer Ministers for Unblocking Copper,\u201d moderated by Oscar D\u00edaz (Viceversa), with the participation of Jaime G\u00e1lvez, Jorge Montero, Oscar Vera, and Miguel Inchaustegui, all former ministers linked to the mining-energy sector.<\/span><\/p>

Second day: geopolitics, regulation, and global vision<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

The second day will incorporate an international outlook with the participation of Loyce Mpangala, Senior Analyst at Blue Project, who will present \u201cCopper Supply in Africa: Trends, Achievements, and Future Prospects,\u00bb offering a global perspective on copper supply.<\/span><\/p>

Adding to this is James Wang Chun, Vice President of Operations at Zijin \u2013 La Arena, with the conference \u201cZijin's Copper Outlook in Latin America\u201d; and Rub\u00e9n Arratia, Director of Base & Precious Metals at Wood Mackenzie, who will analyze \u201cHow Geopolitics is Changing the Mining Industry and How Latin America Could Benefit.\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

The panel \u201cNew Mining Royalties in the Copper Boom?\u201d, moderated by \u00c1ngel Ch\u00e1vez, will bring together Oscar Benavides of Estudio Rodrigo, Evelyn Yauri of Zegarra LLC Abogados, and Patricia Quijano of Teck - Zafranal Project.<\/span><\/p>

In the technical block, Jos\u00e9 Gonzales, Investment Banker, will present on \u201cSuper Copper: Promise, Potential, and Limits of the Electrification Metal.\u201d In turn, the panel on \u201cWater Sustainability of Copper Projects,\u201d moderated by Jorge Soto, will bring together Jos\u00e9 de Pi\u00e9rola, from UNALM; Dar\u00edo Oviedo, from Southern Per\u00fa; Osvaldo Bascur, from OSB Digital; and Guillermo Le\u00f3n, former Sedapal.<\/span><\/p>

In the afternoon session, Juan Carlos Castro, former minister of MINAM and former environmental sector authority, will present \u201cNew environmental legislation for copper growth,\u201d followed by Roque Benavides, executive president of Compa\u00f1\u00eda de Minas Buenaventura, with the presentation \u201cPolitical-institutional framework for copper growth.\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

The program will continue with the panel \u201cNew International Standards for Copper Production,\u201d moderated by Henry Luna, with the participation of Manuel Mungu\u00eda from Southern Peru; Gonzalo Quijandr\u00eda from Minsur; and Francisco L\u00e9caros from the Latin American Mining Alliance (ALMA).<\/span><\/p>

Likewise, the panel \u201cRegional Copper Governors,\u201d moderated by Jos\u00e9 Luis Medina, will bring together Jorge P\u00e9rez, regional governor of Lambayeque; Roel S\u00e1nchez, regional governor of Arequipa; and Koki Noriega, regional governor of \u00c1ncash.<\/span><\/p>

Also noteworthy are the presentations by Carlos Escaffi, founder of Relaxiona Internacional, with \u201cCopper Free Trade Zone Chile-Peru: the axis that can redefine global mining power\u201d; Manuel Viera, CEO of MetaProject, with \u201cMining and the new world order\u201d; and Mayra Figueroa, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru.<\/span><\/p>

Third day: technology, conflicts, and the future of copper<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

The last day will include a conference by Willy Coronado, TICA Manager of Minera Chinalco, on \u201cTechnology Applied to Mine Management,\u201d and a presentation by Karim Batallanos, General Manager of Minera Antapaccay, on \u201cMinera Antapaccay and its Growth Projects.\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

The panel \u201cHow to Manage Conflicts in the Copper Sector,\u201d moderated by Elinor L\u00f3pez, will bring together Fernando Castillo, an independent consultant; Artemio P\u00e9rez, from Antapaccay \u2013 Glencore; Magno Quispe, from Anglo American; and Marco Balc\u00e1zar, from Zijin \u2013 La Arena.<\/span><\/p>

Likewise, Aurora Williams, former Minister of Mining of Chile, will present \u201cGlobal and Regional Challenges of the Mining Industry,\u201d while R\u00f3mulo Mucho will speak on \u201cThe Next Crisis is Mining: Do We Lead Supply or Manage Scarcity?\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

In the panel \u201cImpact of Renewable Energies on Copper Production Costs,\u201d moderated by Brendan Oviedo, Cecilia Rabitsch from Engie, Edwin Quintanilla from Osinergmin, Daniel C\u00e1mac from H2 Per\u00fa, and Pedro Gamio from PUCP will participate.<\/span><\/p>

The social approach will be addressed in the panel \u201cMining Suppliers and Employability and their Role in Territorial Development,\u201d moderated by Mario Huapaya, with Mar\u00eda Elena Bernal, from Anden Link; Silvana Huanqui, from the IDB; Fredy Castillejo, from RENASA; and Gaby Julca, from MINEM.<\/span><\/p>

Finally, the \u201cWomen of Copper\u201d panel will bring together Adriana Aurazo from Southern Peaks Mining, Dominique Viera from APRIMIN, Aurora Williams, Karen Garc\u00eda from Rock Drill, and Silvia Noriega from ApuCorp, prior to the closing and awards ceremony.<\/span><\/p>

Logistics, Forums, and Technical Work<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

As part of its agenda, the event will feature the presentation of over 150 approved technical papers, which will be exhibited simultaneously in the Mining Technological Innovation Forum, the University Mining Research Forum, the Mining Projects Forum, and the Maintenance Forum. These spaces will bring together research, experiences, and solutions related to the main challenges and opportunities in the sector.<\/span><\/p>

Additionally, this edition will also include the First Conecta 2026 Logistics Meeting, a space aimed at specialists in purchasing, contracts, and logistics, as well as sector suppliers. They will be able to participate in conferences led by experts in mining Supply Chain and procurement management.
